Marlie & Boredom

I love it when Marlie gets bored.

Every single time she's been bored in the past, she comes up with something weird/fun to do/make. Like this one time, it was a rainy day and we were sitting inside, bored stiff. We'd already watched two movies and felt like moving around somewhere. Marlie came up with the brilliant idea of dressing up in old clothes, ditching our glasses, and going out to roll around in the mud.

So we did.

Now you definitely think I'm crazy. But it was really so much fun! I mean, normally a person tries to stay clean on rainy days and it's difficult. There's mud to watch out for, and puddles that are deeper than you think, and etc. Marlie and I began our mud event by walking along a sidewalk in the nearby town, still clean and in old sweatshirts. One part of the sidewalk went by this little muddy alleyway that always turns into a sloppy mess even when the sky only spits.

As we were walking by it on the semi-crowded sidewalk, I casually reached out and pushed her. She fell smack on her ass in the mud. Every single person on the sidewalk stopped to stare. It was so funny! I started laughing because I'm terrible at being serious whenever we act anything out. Marlie pretended I was just laughing at her.

"How dare you!" she cried in mock-anger from the ground. She began to rise from a crouch, then suddenly swung out a leg and hooked me behind the knees. BAM! Down I went. Our act dissolved into a sort of weird mud-wrestling event, but before we could get applause or anything, the property owner came out of his store and asked us to leave. We walked home and fell in any mud puddles we could.

Today Marlie was bored while I was at class. When I came back to my suite, she had gone to her class and left me a note on top of a plate covered with foil.

Note read: "I was bored."

I uncovered the plate, and there was a heap of weirdness. It was food, definitely, but it took me a moment to realize what I was looking at. Marlie had sliced up a banana, laid the slices flat on a plate, spread peanut butter over them, sprinkled bits of pretzel to stick to the peanut butter, then pressed M&Ms into any other available space. Yum. I don't know what the hell she's calling this, but it's goddamned amazing. I'm eating them right now.

Question: What's the weirdest combination of food items that you like to eat?
