AnimeNext?

A few hours ago, Marlie and I were sitting on the bed and had one of those infamous only-we-know-what-we’re-talking-about conversations.

Me: “So this summer—”

Her: “will be amazing. What about the—“

Me: “Shirts? If we go to—“

Her: “Target!

Me: “—or Delias”

Her: “Surely there’s something we can—“

Me: “it’ll be blue!”

Us: (giggling hysterically)

Elise: “… what?”

We’ve decided that this summer (I know it’s 5 months away, shut up) we’re going to AnimeNext in Secaucus, NJ. If we go, and I’m about 90% sure we will, we’ll go for Friday and Saturday, maybe Sunday, and have a hell of a good time.

We don’t really have the money or experience to cosplay, but we’re going to do it anyway—our style, of course. Over winter break, we watched the anime Ouran High School Host Club and absolutely loved it. Every character was great, with the exceptions of the White Lily Society, or whatever the hell it was called. You know, the Zuka Club. It annoyed the crap out of both of us.

Anyway, our favorite characters were definitely (and predictably) Kaoru and Hikaru Hitachiin. They’re so adorable and kind of scarily like us, though I want to think we have at least a few more friends and were only wary of “letting in” other people until the end of elementary school. So, uh, not quite until middle school like the twins.

We’re not going to cosplay as them though. We talked about it and it seems ridiculous. Other people cosplay the twins to try to look identical. We don’t need to do that. The plan is to go as ourselves as twins in the Hitachiin style. We’ll dress identically, have our hair parted identically, and try to get back into the art of finishing each other’s sentences like we did when we were younger. The hair part is the only problem now.

I was getting annoyed our first few days here at school because someone would call “Marlie!” when I was standing by myself and I’d have to turn around and patiently explain, “No, I’m Alyssa.” It was the converse with her. After our first four days here back on campus, we walked across the street and I got my hair cut pretty damn short for me. Now it only reaches a little above my shoulders. We still get mistaken for each other, but a little less now.

Unfortunately, I did this before we thought of going to AnimeNext. I can only hope that my hair grows another couple inches in the next six months. Even if it doesn’t get to be Marlie-length, she’s promised to trim a few inches off hers so that we look similar enough.

Anyone else going to be there? Cause if you are, you’re not allowed to act like you know me. You can come over and say hi… but if Marlie’s there, keep your mouth shut. She doesn’t know about this journal... yet.

I am so glad I found you! I remember reading and leaving a few comments to you before. But I couldn't figure out where I saved the link to your blog. But I just googled you for like a minute!

I decided to leave a comment here because I love the Host Club. I liked Honey the best! He's so cute and basically Momiji Souma in disguise! I actually did like the Lily Society. But only because they were obviously lesbians, and they actually remind me of many fanfic writers. Most of those are girls and people get really crazy about certain authors, up to the point of what the rest of the school was like!
