I cannot live without my soul!

Marlie and I are total losers. I wasn't aware of this myself until a friend brought it to our attention.

We were wasting the afternoon away in a rare fashion by watching a movie. Specifically, the 1939 version of Wuthering Heights. I was sniffling as Heathcliff delivered what is probably my favorite speech in the history of anything:

"Catherine Earnshaw, may you not rest so long as I live on! I killed you. Haunt me, then! Haunt your murderer! I know that ghosts have wandered on the Earth. Be with me always. Take any form, drive me mad, only do not leave me in this dark alone where I cannot find you. I cannot live without my life! I cannot die without my soul. "

It's not exactly as good as the book because the words are really:

"Catherine Earnshaw, may you not rest as long as I am living! You said I killed you — haunt me, then! The murdered do haunt their murderers. I believe — I know that ghosts have wandered on earth. Be with me always — take any form — drive me mad! only do not leave me in this abyss, where I cannot find you! Oh, God! it is unutterable! I cannot live without my life! I cannot live without my soul!"

That is just pure sex. I cannot live without my life! I cannot live without my soul!

Anyway, I was tearing up (read: sobbing) when our friend Liam walked in, took one look at Marlie and me curled up on the couch watching Heathcliff in black and white, shook his head, and declared us the ultimate losers. This coming from a guy who's actually a lesbian trapped inside a male body and has a girlfriend who's a gay man trapped inside a female body. Figure that one out and get back to me. Sometimes I look at them together, and then I look at Marlie and we just feel plain normal.
